About this studio
Schade Academy of Irish Dancing has taught Irish dance in East Meadow, New York since 1968, when it was founded by Mary Lou Schade (T.C.R.G., A.D.C.R.G.), who trained from age seven with the McNiff School of Irish Dance and appeared on the Ed Sullivan and Merv Griffin shows as well as at Lincoln Center and Madison Square Garden. The school has produced Regional, National, All Ireland and World champion solo and team dancers, and several former students went on to perform in Riverdance on Broadway and in the original cast of Lord of the Dance. Her daughter Rosemarie Schade-Cromie, a former Mid Atlantic Regional and North American National champion, teaches all levels at the studio. Classes run from beginner through preliminary, novice/prizewinner and open championship levels, with separate team rehearsals, private lessons and summer workshop sessions.
