Out On A Limb Dance Company

Out on a Limb Dance Theater Company & School is a 501(c)(3) non-profit at 1535 W. Larpenteur Avenue in St. Paul, Minnesota, whose mission is that dance should be within everyone's reach, for dancers and audiences alike. The school takes students from Creative Movement at ages 3 to 5, through Fundamentals and beginning combination classes, into a seven-level progression running from Beginning at ages 6-8 to Apprentice at 13-18, where advanced students take four to six hours of ballet a week and dance en pointe. Ballet, tap and jazz form the core, with contemporary, lyrical, improvisation and musical theatre added at higher levels, plus a separate stage acrobatics curriculum at bronze and silver/gold levels. From level 3 upwards students may join the Performing Arts Ensemble for additional performance opportunities. Recreational teen and adult classes, plus adult ballet, hip hop and yoga under the Limb Extensions program, round out the school. Drop-in classes are $20, with 10 per cent discounts for families and educators. The resident company works in dance theatre, and the organization also runs community outreach, scholarships and a volunteer program.
