About this studio
Innovative Dance Company (IDC) is a studio founded roughly ten years ago by director Mckena Thomas, operating from 1435 W Hillfield Road in Layton, Utah, under the motto Escape, Create, Move. It teaches jazz, contemporary, lyrical, hip hop, ballet, acro and technique classes, with directors assigned to ballet, acro and the recreational program. Two tracks are offered: recreational classes for dancers roughly aged 3 to 16, running 60 or 90 minutes once a week, where each class learns two routines for the spring Showcase; and audition-based Company teams for ages 4 to 18 that train two to three days a week and travel to competitions. Company auditions are held each May, with company classes starting in August and recreational classes in September. Summer offerings include recreational pop-up classes in June and July, a Princess Academy day for ages 3-5, VIBE Week and a Princess Camp.
