Footworks Dance By Shaylen LLC

Footworks Dance by Shaylen opened in Clarinda, Iowa in August 2010 at 515 E Washington St, teaching dance and, after a few years, tumbling as well. Owner Miss Shaylen is a member of Dance Masters of America Chapter 47 and a graduate of its Teacher Training School, certified in jazz, tap, ballet and modern; the staff also includes a tumbling coach with a cheerleading background and a former Denver Nuggets dancer who directs the competition team. Classes are structured by age: Little Stars is a 30-minute mommy-and-me class for 18 months to 3 years; Mini classes for 3-4 year olds combine tap and ballet with separate tumbling; K-2 students take ballet and tap combination classes; 3rd-6th graders add jazz; and junior high and high school classes cover jazz, tap and ballet with pom and hip hop as electives shared between the studio's two locations. Intermediate and advanced tumbling are by audition placement. The studio offers competitive opportunities alongside recreational classes.
