Baldwin Academy of Dance and Voice

Baldwin Academy of Dance and Voice (BADV) is a dance and music school at 711 High Street in Baldwin City, Kansas, owned by Courtney and Brian Williams with Courtney Williams and Cindy Trowbridge as directors. It describes itself as a center of creativity and high energy that honors the historical aspects of music and dance while staying mindful of how the art forms change, and aims to build self-confidence and self-discipline alongside technique. Recreational classes run year-round for ages 18 months through adulthood and cover ballet, pre-pointe and pointe, tap, jazz, contemporary, hip hop, creative movement, tumble and tramp, and vocal work including an academy choir. Private lessons are available. Two audition-only groups take dancers from age 7, with auditions each spring: the BADV All-Stars, a competitive dance group that attends five regional competitions a season plus a national event in summer, and the BADV Ambassadors, a musical performance group focused on performing, serving and learning. The academy stages several performances each year.
