The beloved Dallas tradition Shakespeare in the Park runs June 14-July 21, 2024 at the Samuell-Grand Amphitheater. Shakespeare Dallas invites theater lovers to pack a picnic and enjoy dinner and drinks at the breezy amphitheater while enjoying exceptional theater.
The Odyssey by Mary Zimmerman opens June 14th and follows a young woman struggling to understand The Odyssey in modern times. A Greek muse appears and the young woman suddenly becomes the goddess Athena helping Odysseus on his epic journey with popular Greek mythology characters such as Circe, the Cyclops, Poseidon, Calypso, and the Sirens. It’s a whole new way to enjoy Homer’s classic tale!
Shakespeare Dallas is proud to present the classic Shakespeare comedy Twelfth Night opening June 21st. When Viola and her twin brother Sebastian are shipwrecked on the African coast and believe the other to be drowned, Viola disguises herself as a young man and, under the name of Cesario, gets a job as a servant for the Duke, Orsino. This production of Twelfth Night is set on the African coast in the 1930s, making it a must-see for Indiana Jones lovers!
The shows run concurrently Tuesday-Sunday for five weeks. Gates open at 7:30 pm for general admission and performances begin at 8:30 pm. The approximate run time for each show is 2 hours. Come experience the beloved Dallas tradition Shakespeare in the Park!
