WaterTower Theatre (WTT) and Producing Artistic Director Terry Martin are proud to announce the 2010-2011 season for WTT's Main Stage Series. WTT's new season promises to entertain and engage audiences with a rousing mix of musicals, classic dramas, side-splitting comedies and highly anticipated regional premieres. The season will consist of six fully-staged productions as well as the highly successful Out of the Loop Fringe Festival.

"I think our patrons will find this to be a year of theatrical events that will delight all audiences," states Martin. "The Main Stage productions are grounded in a unique blend of significant (but familiar) classics both dramatic and musical, as well as remarkable new plays that will enthrall and inspire. This season truly speaks to the distinctiveness we have built and lived for the last 15 years."

Season support for the Main Stage series is provided by AT&T Real Yellow Pages.

WTT's 2010-2011 Main Stage season consists of:

Our Town
by Thornton Wilder
Previews begin September 24; Performances run September 27 - October 24, 2010
First produced in 1938, the Pulitzer Prize-winning Our Town has become an American stage treasure. Set at the turn of the 20th century, the play examines the ordinary lives of the people of Grover's Corners, New Hampshire. A boy and a girl meet as teenagers and succumb to adolescent affections before maturing, marrying, and having a child of their own. Unassuming in its simplicity and universality, Our Town is one of the most beloved masterpieces of the American Theatre. Our production will re-examine this great play and bring its message to the WTT stage in a new and exciting way. Our Town is brought to you, in part, by Associate Producing Sponsors Atmos Energy and Ackley Financial.

Area Premiere
The Lieutenant of Inishmore
by Martin McDonagh
Previews begin January 7; Performances run January 10 - February 6, 2011
Combine Monty Python, Quentin Tarantino and Irish terrorism into one gleefully gruesome comedy and you get The Lieutenant of Inishmore. "Bad" Padrick is an IRA torturer whose cat, Wee Thomas, has been tragically killed. And Padrick isn't going to rest until the whole town feels as bad as he does. This 2006 Tony Award nominee is the cruelest, bloodiest and funniest show you'll see all season!

WTT's Entry Into the Foote Festival
The Traveling Lady
by Horton Foote
Previews begin April 1; Performances run April 4 - May 1, 2011
Georgette Thomas has spent the past six years waiting obediently for her husband to be released from prison. As his release date draws near, Georgette must travel to the small Texas town where he is being held - a journey that will force her to come to terms with her own expectations of love and loyalty. Written by legendary Texas playwright Horton Foote, The Traveling Lady is WaterTower's entry into the Dallas-Ft. Worth Foote Festival.

Area Premiere
Shooting Star
by Stephen Dietz
Previews begin May 27; Performances run May 30 - June 26, 2011
Reed and Elena were college sweethearts but haven't seen each other in twenty-five years. When both are stranded at the same snowed-in airport, the conversation crackles and the sparks begin to fly. When morning comes and all flights are cleared for departure - what's the final destination for these two? Shooting Star is a sweet, touching comedy filled with humor, heartache, secrets and snow.

Little Shop of Horrors
Book and Lyrics by Howard Ashman; Music by Alan Menken
Previews begin July 22; Performances run July 25 - August 21, 2011
Seymour Krelborn was a meek flower-shop clerk on Skid Row until the day he discovered a mysterious plant... with a taste for blood. As the plant grows in size and appetite, Seymour must decide between the fate of his love life and the fate of the planet! One of the longest-running Off-Broadway shows of all time, Little Shop of Horrors is a charmingly affectionate musical spoof of 1950s sci-fi movies that you won't want to miss!

In addition to the Main Stage season, WaterTower Theatre will also produce the following season extras:

Season Extra
Circle Mirror Transformation
by Annie Baker
In the Studio Theatre; Performances run November 4 - 21, 2010
Pretend to be a baseball glove. Have an entire conversation using only the word "goulash." These are some of the exercises in Marty's creative drama class. When her four new students experiment with these harmless theatre games, hearts are quietly torn apart and tiny wars of epic proportions are waged and won. Acclaimed as the debut of the year by one of the most exciting new writers in the country, Circle Mirror Transformation is the hilarious, moving new comedy about five citizens of a rural town who begin a community acting class only to discover more about themselves than they ever expected. The New York Times called this comedy triumph "absorbing and sharply funny" in a debut that was extended twice by popular demand.

Season Extra
