WaterTower Theatre Closes 2008-2009 Season with the comic romp Unnecessary Farce

WaterTower Theatre (WTT) closes its 2008-2009 season with Paul Slade Smith's comic romp Unnecessary Farce. It will run July 16 - August 2, 2009. Unnecessary Farce replaces the previously announced How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying. In a cheap motel room, an embezzling mayor meets with his female accountant while two undercover cops wait in the room next door to videotape the tryst. But there's some confusion as to who's in which room, who's being videotaped, who's taken the money, who's hired a hit man, and why the accountant keeps running around in her underwear. In the grand tradition of Noises Off, Unnecessary Farce is a side-splitting comedy sure to have you rolling in the aisles with laughter.

"We were heartbroken that we've had to indefinitely postpone our production of How to Succeed...," states WTT Producing Artistic Director Terry Martin. "But the recent economic situation has forced us to adjust budgets and evaluate what's in the best long-term interest of WTT's immediate future. Unnecessary Farce takes some of the best traits of How to Succeed..., witty dialogue, snappy timing and hysterical characters, and mixes them together to create an outlandishly funny show we know our audiences will love."

Unnecessary Farce will run July 16 - August 2, 2009 at the Addison Theatre Centre, which is located at 15650 Addison Road in Addison, Texas. Performance times are Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7:30 PM, Fridays at 8:00 pm, Saturdays at 2:00 PM (on July 25 & August 1 only) & 8:00 PM, and Sundays at 2:00 PM. Ticket prices range from $25 - $40. Tickets are available by calling the WTT Box Office at 972.450.6232 or online at www.watertowertheatre.org. Group rates are also available.

For the past twelve years, WaterTower Theatre has proven itself to be on the forefront of both the regional and Dallas theatre communities. WTT has been recognized for artistic excellence by the Dallas Theatre League, Dallas/Fort Worth Theater Critics Forum, The Dallas Morning News, The Dallas Observer, D Magazine and Star-Telegram, among others. WaterTower Theatre has a subscription base in excess of 2,100 subscribers and serves an audience base of over 35,000 patrons annually. WaterTower Theatre is supported in part by the Town of Addison, TACA, and The Texas Commission on the Arts.
