Set in the run-down streets of East Cleveland, Micahel Oatman's new play, The King of Cage Street, sheds light on three oft-overlooked individuals of the black community who must turn to one another for survival. In the play, an ex-gang member with a plan for revenge is released from prison, endangering the livelihoods of D-Bear, an ex-con who is trying to cobble his life together, Dime, a transsexual sex worker and Skully, an ex-con-turned-handyman.

One of theater's sparkling new voices, Oatman's work mixes humor and drama to examine the daily lives of marginalized members of society while also celebrating the beauty of their humanity. Catch The King of Cage Street at the Stone Cottage Theatre in Addison.
