THIS RANDOM WORLD Comes to Circle Theatre

Steven Dietz's heartwarming comedy, This Random World, kicks off the season. Each character's journey overlaps one another, be it an ailing woman who plans one final trip, a daughter planning one great escape or a son falling prey to a prank gone wrong. This funny and intimate play explores the lives that may be happening just out of reach of our own. Does serendipity bring us together or is that only a myth?
Circle's production is directed by Steven Pounders and features Jovane Caamaño (Gary), Catherine D. DuBord** (Claire), Desirée Fultz** (Beth Ward), Kyle Igneczi* (Tim Ward), Camille Monae** (Rhonda), Libby Villari* (Scottie Ward), and Crystal Williams (Bernadette).
Circle Theatre's production team members include Megan Beddingfield* (Stage Manager/Prop Design), Clare Floyd DeVries (Set Design), John Leach (Lighting Design), David H.M. Lambert (Sound Design) and Sarah Tonemah (Costume Design).

Steven Dietz's (Playwright) 30 plus plays and adaptations have been seen at over 100 regional theatres in the United States, as well as Off-Broadway. International productions have been seen in over 20 countries and his work has been translated into 10 languages. 2015-2016 world premiers include Bloomsday (Steinberg New Play Award Citation); This Random World (Humana Festival of New American Plays) and On Clover Road (National New Play Network (NNPN) "rolling world premiere"). Other recent work includes Rancho Mirage (Edgerton New Play Award), The Shimmering and America la Ronde. Dietz is a two-time winner of the Kennedy Center Fund for New American Plays Award for Fiction and Still Life with Iris, as well as a two-time finalist for the Steinberg New Play Award for Last of the Boys and Becky's New Car. He received the PEN USA West Award in Drama for Lonely Planet and the 2007 Edgar Award© for Drama for Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure. Other widely produced plays include Yankee Tavern, Jackie & Me, Shooting Star, Inventing Van Gogh, God's Country, Private Eyes and The Nina Variations.
Steven Pounders (Director) returns to Circle for his 6th season as a director: Who Am I This Time? (& Other Conundrums of Love) (2017), Clever Little Lies (2016), Other Desert Cities (2015), The Other Place (2014) & A Bright New Boise (2013). Steven is a professor in the Department of Theatre Arts at Baylor University. In addition to teaching and directing for the Baylor Theatre, he is a professional actor and director and has worked with Off Broadway theatres that include the Cherry Lane, Theatre Row, and The Ensemble Studio; and regional theatres including PlayMakers Repertory, Trinity Shakespeare Festival, Stage West, Casa Mañana, WaterTower Theatre, Theatre Three, and, of course, Circle Theatre. Steven is a company member of the NY production group, the Resonance Ensemble. He appeared at Circle Theatre as an actor in Mistakes Were Made and Bach at Leipzig.
