Second Thought Announces Details For State Of Mind 2018

Second Thought Theatre announced today details for this year's Second Thought State of Mind, an event celebrating STT and gathering support for the award-winning theatre company. The fifth annual Second Thought State of Mind invites guests to an evening of fun and fundraising featuring entertainment by Janelle lutz. Second Thought State of Mind 2018 will take place on Friday, November 2 at Sammons Center for the Arts.

"Each year, with the generous support of our patrons and subscribers, State of Mind raises a significant portion of the funds necessary to create the innovative and stimulating theatre that Second Thought has become synonymous with, and we are so grateful for the growth this has afforded us." said Wade Owens, Second Thought State of Mind 2018 event co-chair. "We are thrilled to have Janelle lutz, a Dallas musical theater favorite, joining us for the festivities", added co-chair Jim Nugent. "Janelle is a phenomenally talented performer. Her performance will be a perfect complement to this celebration in support of Second Thought Theatre's own storytelling."

This year's Second Thought State of Mind begins with cocktails and festive fare at 7:00 p.m., followed by Ms. Lutz, accompanied by accomplished pianist Adam C. Wright. Rob McCollum will emcee and Dallas-based director and choreographer Joel Ferrell, whose Second Thought directorial credits include The Necessities, Othello, and Gruesome Playground Injuries, will be our featured guest. The event will also include a Fund the Mission auction, the proceeds of which will provide financial support for Second Thought Theatre's 2019 season. Cocktails and mingling with Second Thought artists and supporters will finish the evening.

Second Thought Theatre recently released the details of its 2019 season, which includes four area premieres and the third world premiere in as many years by local playwright Blake Hackler. "2018 was a particularly exciting year for generating politically-charged conversation and welcoming new audiences," said Alex Organ, Second Thought Theatre Artistic Director. "As we look to 2019, our focus shifts toward more personal stories of resilience and self-discovery. We look forward to continuing our tradition of community engagement through post-show discussions after nearly every performance."

Individual tickets for Second Thought State of Mind are $75 each and may be purchased online at or by phone at (866) 811-4111. Guests may also contribute to the Fund the Mission portion of the evening prior to event by visiting Complete Fund the Mission donor levels and benefits are available online. State of Mind will take place at Sammons Center for the Arts, 3630 Harry Hines, Dallas, TX 75219. Each ticket includes entry to the event, drinks, and a light dinner.
