Theatre Three has unveiled l its 2026–2027 season, a lineup of musicals, comedies, and powerful solo performances that explore identity, resilience, love, and the chaos of being human. Spanning the Norma Young Arena Stage and Theatre Too (T2), the season blends iconic titles with new work.

"We're also committed to providing accessible theatre to our community next season,” says Associate Artistic Director Christie Vela. “Our $10 T3Rush will continue to be available for Thursday night performances, and students can purchase $10 tickets to any performance with a valid student ID, or $5 student rush tickets.

On the Norma Young Arena Stage:

Spring Awakening

The season opens with Spring Awakening (September 10–27, 2026), the groundbreaking rock musical featuring music by Duncan Sheik and book and lyrics by Steven Sater. Based on Frank Wedekind's controversial play, this electrifying production follows teenagers pushing against the constraints of a repressive society as they navigate desire, identity, and the consequences of silence.

GREMLINS!

This holiday season brings mischief and mayhem with GREMLINS! (mostly) (December 3–20, 2026), a brand-new commission by local playwright Matt Lyle inspired by the beloved 1984 cult classic. Packed with dark humor and chaotic fun, the production promises a wildly entertaining theatrical experience where one small mistake leads to unforgettable consequences.

Rumors

In the spring, laughter takes center stage with Rumors (March 11–28, 2027), Neil Simon's fast-paced farce. When a glamorous anniversary party spirals into confusion, gossip flies and lies multiply in a hilarious race to keep up appearances.

Teeth

The season culminates in a major event: the regional premiere of Teeth (June 3–20, 2027), the bold and genre-defying musical by Michael R. Jackson and Anna K. Jacobs. Fresh from national acclaim, this daring new work arrives in Dallas for the first time, offering audiences a rare opportunity to experience one of the most talked-about contemporary musicals of the moment. Equal parts hilarious, provocative, and empowering, Teeth is a coming-of-age story with a bite; exploring power, fear, sexuality, and self-determination in a way that is as unforgettable as it is unflinching.

At Theatre Too (T2):

Theatre Three's intimate downstairs space continues its tradition of powerful, actor-driven storytelling.

I Am My Own Wife

(October 15–November 1, 2026), Doug Wright's Pulitzer Prize–winning play, tells the remarkable true story of Charlotte von Mahlsdorf. Performed as a virtuosic solo piece, the play chronicles survival, identity, and self-invention in the face of Nazi and Stasi oppression.

Next, Dear Jack, Dear Louise

(February 4–21, 2027) by Ken Ludwig offers a heartfelt and humorous love story inspired by the playwright's own parents. Through letters exchanged during World War II, two strangers discover connection, resilience, and romance across distance and uncertainty.

I Am My Own Wife

Closing the season is Miss Margarida's Way by Roberto Athayde (April 29–May 16, 2027), a sharp, darkly comic satire that transforms a classroom into a battleground. As Miss Margarida's lesson unfolds, audiences find themselves implicated in a provocative exploration of authority, control, and complicity.
