Next up at The Firehouse Theatre - Billy Elliot the Musical - a regional premiere - opens July 29th and runs through August 14, with preview set for July 28 th . Book and Lyrics by Lee Hall with Music by Elton John - this show has 10 Tony awards, including Best Musical, to its credit! Set in a northern English mining town against the background of the 1984 miners' strike, Billy Elliot is the inspirational story of a young boy's struggle against the odds to make his dream come true. Based on the international smash-hit film, this show will encourage audiences to BE YOURSELF.

Billy Elliot is directed by Derek Whitener (The Drowsy Chaperone, Mary Poppins, Thoroughly Modern Millie) with music direction by Rebecca Lowrey. This production has been masterfully choreographed by eight of DFW'S best choreographers: Larry Borero, Michael Anthony Sylvester, Beth Lipton, Eddie Floresca, Amy Cave, BranDon Harvey, Christina Kudlicki Hoth, and Linda Kay Leonard (assisted by Ania Lyons and Emma Hay). Production team includes Technical Director and Fight Choreographer - Jason Leyva, Stage Manager - Maggie Hunter, Costume Designer - Alexandra Eddins, Lighting Designer - Scott Davis, Light Board Operator - Nicholas Walters, Sound by Kathryn Marbry, Steven Anschutz, Set Designer - Kevin Brown, Set Construction by Jason Leyva, Dennis Williams and Properties - Kristin M. Burgess.

Cast includes Westin Brown as Billy, Matthew Vinson as Michael, Andi Allen as Mrs. Wilkinson, Ben Phillips as Dad, Judy Keith as Grandma, Austin Parker as Tony, Kate Dressler as Dead Mum, Sydney Noelle Pitts as Debbie, with Ballet Girls: Bella Saucer Ehring, Carly Black, Katie Kelley, Kathryn Baxter, Taylor Baxter and Lauren Scott. Ensemble is rounded out with Andrew Cave, Kyler Valentine, Evan Anderson, Rodney Morris, Jonathan McInnis, Aaron Jakaboski, Ryan C. Machen, Ellen Eberhardt, Hilary Allen, Ania Lyons, Andrew Friedrich, Kate Dressler, Kris Allen, Benjamin Bratcher, Ernest Hernandez and Adam Henley.

The show will officially open on Friday, July 29th at 7:30pm, followed immediately by a post-show reception. Performances will continue through August 14th on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm and Saturdays and Sundays at 2:30pm.
