Now is the winter of our discontent, made glorious summer as Richard III comes to the stage in the second production in the 2016 Shakespeare in the Park season. Performances of the Shakespearean classic will run June 22-26 for the opening week and continue June 29-July 23 every Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday at the Samuell Grand Amphitheater, 1500 Tenison Parkway in Dallas.

Richard III, directed by guest director Stefan Novinski, chronicles the short reign of Richard III of England, played by Brandon Potter. Making his debut with Shakespeare Dallas, Potter earned acclaim for his portrayal of President Lyndon Baines Johnson in the Dallas Theater Center production of All the Way earlier this year.

In Richard III, the treacherous Richard succeeds in marrying Lady Anne, played by Stephanie Cleghorn Jasso, even though he killed her father and her husband. Next, Richard uses his skills in deception and manipulation to take the throne from his nephew. As the commoners begin to loathe their ruler, a challenger to the throne invades England and promises a new era of peace.

Performances of Richard III begin at 8:15 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at the gate or online. Additional information is available online at http://www.shakespearedallas.org or 214-559-2778.
