"Wilkommen!, Bienvenue!, Welcome!", sings the Emcee of the Kit Kat Club through painted lips, as the people of 1929 Berlin join him. Whatever your troubles, you will forget them at the Cabaret. Sally Bowles, a middle class lass from Chelsea, London, is working as a singer at Berlin's Kit Kat Club and trying her best to live the thrillingly decadent life which the city is supposed to offer.

Into her orbit comes Cliff Bradshaw, a young American writer, and Sally soon moves in to join him in his room in the boarding house run by Fraulein Schneider. As the clouds gather, Sally is still determined to show the world what a good time she is having and she will not or cannot hear the noises of Nazism around her. But the others can. Musical numbers include It Couldn't Please Me More, Two Ladies, Willkommen, Cabaret, and Don't Tell Mama.

Originally directed on Broadway in 1966 by Harold Prince, Cabaret won eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The musical inspired the eight-time Academy Award-winning 1972 film, starring Liza Minelli as Sally Bowles.

The production is directed and choreographed by Linda Leonard, with costume design by Ryan Matthieu Smith. The musical director is Lynn Ambrose.

"It's a brilliant piece of theatre," said Ambrose, "Cabaret is a cautionary tale about a society in trouble, and I think that still resonates today."
Leonard is thrilled to have the opportunity to direct one of musical theatre's most memorable and beloved shows "Cabaret also presents a unique opportunity for casting," Says Leonard. "Two couples tied together at the Kit Kat Klub by one of the most iconic figures in musical history: The Emcee. We are fortunate to have some of the finest young local professionals you will soon be seeing everywhere."

Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for students. They may be purchased online at www.brownpapertickets.com.
