Jubilee Theatre Presents HOME, 10/1
Jubilee Theatre is excited to announce the beginning of its 30th Anniversary Season with HOME previewing October 1 and running through October 31. HOME first debuted at Jubilee Theatre in 1983. Bringing this coming of age tale back to the Jubilee stage is an exciting, poignant way to begin the celebratory 2010 - 2011 season.
Written by Samm-Art Williams, HOME was originally produced by the Negro Ensemble Company
and then transferred to Broadway where it earned a Tony Award nomination. This brilliantly
inventive, lyrically expressive play deals with the coming of age of a young man from rural South
Carolina, examining the African-American experience in the United States.
The 30th Anniversary production of HOME will be directed by Sharon Benge. A native of Dallas,
Benge currently serves as director of theater at Texas Woman's University and is celebrating her
22nd year as co-host of Art Matters on WRR Radio (101.1 FM). Home features Marcus Mauldin,
Evette Perry Buchanan and Ginneh Thomas and a talented design team, including Brian Clinnin,
Jay Isham and Barbara O'Donaghue.
Previews for Home are October 1, 2 and 3. Opening night is Friday, October 8 and the show closes
on Sunday October 31. Performances are Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 8pm, as well
as Saturday and Sunday matinees at 3pm. Tickets for Home are on sale now, and can be
purchased online or over the phone. Preview tickets are $10; ticket prices range from $15 - $25 for
the run of the show. To purchase tickets, visit www.jubileetheatre.org, or contact the Box Office at
tickets@jubileetheatre.org or by phone at 817.338.4411 Tuesday - Friday, 12pm - 6pm.
