Firestarter Productions, the award-winning resident company hosted by Circle Theatre, will present Tapas - A Festival of Short Plays Thursday, April 16 through Sunday, April 19, at Circle Theatre in Fort Worth's Sundance Square. Curated and directed by Jaime Castañeda, Tapas is one of the attractions during the 2009 Fort Worth Main Street Arts Festival as part of their OFF MAIN series.

Tapas - A Festival of Short Plays is a series of dark comedies by local and national writers, including Kristoffer Diaz, Marco Ramirez, Dan Dietz, Tom Sime and Kathleen Anderson Culebro. Tapas will make you laugh while exploring topics such as bad dreams, the true identity of Superman, woeful love and Hip Hop (some partial nudity and adult language/content may ensue).

"Tapas has something for everyone," said Jaime Castañeda, artistic director and founder of FireStarter Productions, "and we're excited to bring together this collection of work."

Kristoffer Diaz and Marco Ramirez are both New York playwrights whose short plays are currently running at this year's Humana Festival in Louisville, KY. Dan Dietz, a former Texan, currently resides in Florida and teaches playwriting at Florida State University. Tom Sime, a native Texan and former Dallas Morning News theatre critic, is now a writer-in-residence at the East Village's Bleecker Street Theatre in New York City. Local playwright Kathleen Anderson Culebro is the artistic director of Amphibian Stage Productions. Several of the plays that make up Tapas will be world premieres, while others have already been produced in different theatres across the country.

"We're thrilled to host this critically-acclaimed emerging theater company," said Rose Pearson, Circle Theatre's executive director and producer. "FireStarter's theatrical innovation aligns perfectly with our creative mission at Circle."
