FOREVER PLAID Comes to Granbury Opera House
Granbury Theatre Company will continue its 2019 Broadway on the Brazos season with the musical Forever Plaid on March 29-April 14, 2019, at the historic Granbury Opera House in Downtown Granbury.
According to Music Theatre International, Forever Plaid is one of the most popular and successful musicals in recent memory. This deliciously fun revue is chock-full of classic barbershop quartet harmonies and pitch-perfect melodies!
Once upon a time, there were four guys (Sparky, Smudge, Jinx and Frankie) who discovered that they shared a love for music and then got together to become their idols - The Four Freshman, The Hi-Lo's and The Crew Cuts. Rehearsing in the basement of Smudge's family's plumbing supply company, they became "Forever Plaid." On the way to their first big gig, the "Plaids" are broadsided by a school bus and killed instantly. It is at the moment when their careers and lives end that the story of Forever Plaid begins....
The musical was written and originally directed and choreographed by Stuart Ross with musical continuity supervision and arrangements by James Raitt. Among the many songs in the show are "Love Is A Many Splendored Thing," "Pappa Loves to Mambo," "Rags to Riches," "Shangri-La," "Sixteen Tons," and "Three Coins in the Fountain."
Starring in the Opera House production are Nathan Early as Frankie, Charles Mason as Sparky, Jarrett Self as Jinx, and Zach Zagrocki as Smudge. Playing in the band on stage will be Haden Capps, Ashley Green, and Kyle Hoffman.
The musical is under the direction of Greg Doss with choreography by Brooke Goodson. Designers for the production are: William Byrum, set; Joshua Carpenter, sound; Kalani Morrissette, lighting; Drenda Lewis, costumes; Gaylene Carpenter, props. Byrum is also the stage manager.
