Denton Community Theatre's outreach program for supporters interested in various aspects of the theatre will continue Saturday, December 17, 2016. The topic will be auditioning, and will include tips for choosing musical audition pieces, preparing them, doing cold readings, and dance/movement auditions. It will be appropriate for adults and children, and is being timed with upcoming auditions for DCT's MainStage production of Oliver! in mind.

The program is free and will run from 1-3 p.m. at the historic Campus Theatre, 214 W. Hickory St., Denton. Space at the seminar is limited, and reservations are suggested. Please call 940 382-7014 x3 or email thedctteam@campustheatre.com to make reservations.

The seminar is being coordinated by DCT Governing Board President Melissa Sims. Ms. Sims will lead the thread on choosing and preparing a song, with the help of David Pierce at the piano. Participants are encouraged to bring a song and sheet music for guidance. Julie Brinker, DCT Education/Outreach Director, will lead the thread on cold readings. Amanda Guerrero will lead the dance/movement thread. Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes that you can move in.

"We've had a lot of requests for this topic, and are so pleased to be able to present a comprehensive guide to auditioning at the Campus Theatre," Brinker said. "With presenters from both Denton Community Theatre and Music Theatre of Denton, we should be able to make all our auditioners, experienced or first-timer, feel more comfortable with what to expect and how to prepare."

All Special Saturday programs are free, but reservations are suggested for this seminar, and space is limited. Please contact Julie Brinker at 940 382-7014 or email thedctteam@campustheatre.com to reserve a place as soon as possible.
