DISHING IT OUT to Replace PAGEANT PLAY in Uptown Players' 2013 Pride Festival, 9/7-14
By: BWW News Desk
Due to the unexpected death of one of the actors in Our Productions Theater Company's Pageant Play, the show has been withdrawn from this year's Pride Festival. Uptown Players announces that Dishing It Out, written by and starring Paul J. Williams, will replace Pageant Play in this year's festival.
The show will run: September 7 at 4 p.m.; September 11 at 8 p.m.; and September 14 at 2 p.m.Paul J. Williams has long been known not only for his great comedic timing, but also his ability to create recognizable characters as a part of his show. In Dishing It Out, Paul plays six different personas throughout the entire show.
Taking place in a Southern cafeteria, the central character is a food server who seems to know everybody who comes through her line. Inevitably, each of these people become the other characters in the show, as we get a glimpse into the daily goings on of the lunchtime patrons of this Southern gathering place. From a chain-smoking real estate agent to a narrow-minded preacher (and others in between), DISHING IT OUT is a one-man tour de force capitalizing on Paul's hilarious creativity and improv abilities, as the audience becomes patrons in the cafeteria as well, interacting with the characters on stage.Videos
