Amphibian Stage Productions Presents a Staged Reading of TREATS

Amphibian Stage Productions is set to continue its "'Phibs at The Modern" reading series with a staged reading of Treats by Christopher Hampton. René Moreno directs Lydia Mackay, Brandon Murphy, and Jeff Schmidt in this witty comedy on December 5 at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.

About the Play
From the Academy Award-winning writer of Dangerous Liaisons comes a comedy about the choices we make when we're in love. Dave, Ann, and Patrick struggle with each other and their foolish tendencies as they navigate the murky waters of sex, love, and loyalty.
Treats received its world premiere at the Royal Court Theater in London in 1976 before making its New York debut at the Hudson Guild Theater in 1977. In a review of that production, Mel Gussow of the New York Times said of Christopher Hampton's characters, "with his wit and intelligence, Mr. Hampton makes them engaging, amusing company." Revived in London in 2007, Treats now comes to Fort Worth, Texas for one night only.

Treats will be presented in Fort Worth on December 5, 2011 at 7 PM. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors, and $5 for students. About Amphibian Stage Productions
Amphibian Stage Productions is a non-profit theatre company founded in 2000 by three alumni of TCU's Department of Theatre who strive to produce innovative and engaging works of theatre that challenge the way we see the world around us. Now in its eleventh season, Amphibian has produced numerous groundbreaking and challenging plays (some regional premieres, others US or world premieres) that foster a deeper understanding of ourselves as members of the global community. The company is widely recognized for its stylistically and thematically varied scripts.
Committed to nurturing young and diverse audiences, Amphibian has developed a strong internship program, a summer acting workshop for teens, and a dynamic outreach project, Tad-Poles!, that is steadily increasing the company's visibility and following. In addition, actors visit schools to lead acting workshops and talkback sessions with students. The company actively reaches out to young people and strives to foster a new generation of audience members by offering students very low cost or free tickets to all performances.

Biographies

Christopher Hampton (Playwright) is best known for his play based on the novel Les Liaisons Dangereuses and the film version, Dangerous Liaisons, for which he won an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. He was nominated again in 2007 for adapting Ian McEwan's novel Atonement for the screen. Hampton's original plays include Total Eclipse, The Philanthropist, Savages, and Treats, and his translations include The Seagull, A Doll's House, Art, and God of Carnage.

René Moreno (Director) returns to Amphibian Stage Productions after directing the critically acclaimed No Child… by Nilaja Sun in the 2010 season. His varied work has been seen at The Guthrie Theater (Minneapolis), Milwaukee Repertory Theater, Oregon Shakespeare Festival (Ashland), Oklahoma City Repertory Theatre. Dallas Theater Center, Stage West, WaterTower Theatre, Kitchen Dog Theater, and Theatre Three, among others. He is the recipient of The Princess Grace Foundation-USA Princess Grace Awards Theatre Fellowship and was honored with a National Endowment for the Arts' National Medal of Arts Nomination.
