The Rose Center Theater's 42ND STREET Closes

By:

The Rose Center Theater Professional Series will present the Musical Extravaganza, 42nd STREET. The RCT invites all to "Come and meet those dancing feet" through March 4, 2012.

FORTY-SECOND STREET is a big, bold musical extravaganza set in 1933 that celebrates what dreams are made of. The curtain rises on over 100 "Tappin' Feet" as Andy Lee (Ren Lescault), the dance director is auditioning kids for the chorus of a new show, Pretty Lady, produced by Broadway legend Julian Marsh (Chris Caputo). Enter young Peggy Sawyer (Danielle LaSor) – fresh off the train from Allentown, Pennsylvania, and with the help of the show's romantic lead, Billy Lawlor (Devin Cortez) as well as her obvious talent, is granted a part in the chorus.

Pretty Lady opens spectacularly, but when the show's star Dorothy Brock (Mary Murphy-Nelson) rushes onstage, she falls and breaks her ankle. Panic spreads through the cast, and finally they turn to Peggy to keep the show alive. With 36 hours to learn 25 pages, 6 songs and 10 dance numbers, the Broadway curtain rises on Pretty Lady and history is made! The show is a fabulous hit, and Peggy Sawyer is a sudden sensation! Broadway is truly a magical place once again.

And what a magical choice for the Rose Center Theater! A production that requires expertise from a number of artistic disciplines, this show is a perfect fit for the incredible musicals The Rose Center Theater has become known for.  Director Tim Nelson and Choreographers Jennifer Simpson-Matthews & Diane Makas have assembled a troupe of actors, dancers and musicians they are excited and proud to showcase.

Please enjoy the ride "On the Avenue I'm takin' you to … 42nd Street!"
