LA MIRADA THEATRE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS is thrilled to present a remarkable musical about dreamers and hope, FLOYD COLLINS, music and lyrics by Adam Guettel, book and additional lyrics by Tina Landau, musical direction by David O and directed by Richard Israel. FLOYD COLLINS will preview on Thursday, March 27 & March 28 (with a press opening on Saturday, March 29) and runs through Sunday, April 13, 2014, live "ONSTAGE" at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts, 14900 La Mirada Blvd in La Mirada.

An intimate theatre experience has been created by placing 199 audience seats on the actual stage of the theatre which will be filled with this incredible award-winning musical AND the audience. See how his goal of creating a tourist attraction becomes a reality, with him as the main attraction. With music and lyrics by Tony Award winner Adam Guettel (The Light in the Piazza) and book and lyrics by innovative theatre artist Tina Landau, this haunting musical, which won a Lucille Lortel Award, a Drama Desk Award, and an Obie Award when it premiered in New York, tells the transcendent tale of a true American dreamer.

ABOUT FLOYD COLLINS

In 1925, while chasing a dream of fame and fortune by turning a Kentucky cave into a tourist attraction, Floyd Collins himself became the attraction when he got trapped 200 feet underground. Alone but for sporadic contact with the outside world, Floyd fought for his sanity and ultimately his life as the rescue effort above exploded into the first genuine media circus. Reporters and gawkers from across the country descended on the property, fueling the hysteria and manipulating the nation into holding its collective breath.

FLOYD COLLINS will preview on Thursday, March 27 at 7:30pm & Friday March 28 at 8pm (with a press opening on Saturday, March 29 at 8pm) and runs through Sunday, April 13, 2014 at 2pm, live "ONSTAGE" at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts, 14900 La Mirada Blvd in La Mirada.

Performances will be 7:30pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays; 8pm on Fridays; 2pm and 8:00pm on Saturdays; 2pm and 7pm on Sundays (with no performance on Sunday, April 13 at 7pm).

LA MIRADA THEATRE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS is located at 14900 La Mirada Boulevard in La Mirada, near the intersection of Rosecrans Avenue where the 91 and 5 freeways meet. Parking is free.
