The New Year is an opportunity to learn, create and rejuvenate. The Ridgefield Playhouse is offering to help patrons unleash the artist inside of them with their winter session of classes, and no experience is necessary.

In Songwriting with Kevin Briody you can take your poetry or thought and learn the elements of songwriting with the Emmy Award winner. Award Winning Musician Kevin Briody will teach you how to structure songs, create "hooks," craft lyrics, manipulate melody, rhythm and harmony, merge words with music, and write toward genre. Whether you favor pop, rock, hip-hop, R&B, country, music, lyrics, or both, he'll show you how to write songs that soar! The class meets on Wednesdays from 7:30 - 9:00 p.m., January 20 - March 14.

Take your humor to the stage in 8 weeks with Award winning comedienne Christine O'Leary's wildly popular class! Stand-up Comedy Workshop will teach the fundamentals of comedy writing then take it to the stage where you will perform a real show!

The class meets on Mondays from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m., January 25 - March 14. Students will perform on The Ridgefield Playhouse stage at the graduation comedy showcase on Sunday, March 20 at 11 a.m. Whether you have to speak in front of large groups for work or you have a big event coming up - Bar Mitzvah, wedding or reunion, Speaking Fearlessly with Ira Joe Fisher will have you ready to speak confidently in front of a crowd. Emmy Award-winning journalist, author and emcee Ira Joe Fisher offers this life-changing program, featuring career-affirmed strategies - not tricks - for effective speech, public speaking presentations and high stakes conversations.

Classes take place on Tuesdays 7:30 - 9:30 p.m., February 16 - March 22. Studios and networks are always looking for the next "Game of Thrones," "Scandal," or "Modern Family." They are hungry for original TV shows! Katie Torpey's TV Writing Workshop will teach you how to create, develop and write an original TV show! Katie Torpey - an award-winning WGA Screenwriter / Filmmaker with a MFA from UCLA School of Film and Television will help students create, develop and write original TV shows that they could potentially sell to Hollywood! Thursdays from 7:30 - 9:30 p.m., February 18 - April 7, 2016.
