Ridgefield Playhouse to Screen Young Vic's A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE, 9/16

By:

The National Theatre has just announced that the Young Vic theatre's hotly-anticipated new production of A Streetcar Named Desire, with Gillian Anderson as Blanche DuBois, will be broadcast live from the Young Vic's London home to The Ridgefield Playhouse on Tuesday, September 16, at 7 p.m. This is the fastest-selling show in the Young Vic's history, and tickets are incredibly scarce, so the opportunity to see it on the wide-screen is not-to-be-missed!

Tennessee Williams' timeless masterpiece, A Streetcar Named Desire, boasts an enviable cast: Gillian Anderson (The X-Files, The Fall) as Blanche DuBois, Ben Foster (Lone Survivor, Kill Your Darlings) as Stanley, and Vanessa Kirby (BBC's Great Expectations, Three Sisters at the Young Vic) as Stella. As Blanche's fragile world crumbles, she turns to her sister Stella for solace, but her downward spiral brings her face to face with the brutal, unforgiving Stanley Kowalski. Visionary director Benedict Andrews returns to the Young Vic following his Critics' Circle Award-winning Three Sisters.

To make going to the theater even more special, Bernard's (20 West Lane, Ridgefield) is offering a special $45 prix-fixe menu, or a free glass of wine with dinner, the night of this event when tickets are presented; reservations are suggested starting at 5 p.m. This series is underwritten by Jeanne Cook, Anita and Nicholas Donofrio, Liz and Steven Goldstone, Marilyn and Joe Kreitz, Joanne and John Patrick, Starbucks Coffee, Sabina and Walter Slavin, Taylor Zemo Foundation, The Ridgefield Press and Whistle Stop Bakery with media sponsor WSHU Public Radio Group.

For tickets ($25 adults, $20 seniors/members, $15 students, $18 each for all in the series), call the box office at (203) 438-5795, or order online at ridgefieldplayhouse.org. The Ridgefield Playhouse is a not-for-profit performing arts center located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street, Ridgefield, CT.
