Music Theatre of Connecticut MainStage, Fairfield County's award-winning professional theatre company, concludes its 2013/2014 Season with "The Fantasticks" a musical with book by Tom Jones, music by Harvey Schmidt, lyrics by Tom Jones and based on "Les Romanesques" by Edmond Rostand. Performances are April 11 - May 4, Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, with matinees Saturdays at 4pm and Sundays at 2pm, at MTC MainStage Studio Theatre, 246 Post Road East (Colonial Green/Lower Level) in downtown Westport, CT. "The Fantasticks" is a funny and romantic musical set in a world of moonlight and magic featuring a famous score, which includes the timeless classics "Try To Remember," "They Were You" and "Soon It's Gonna Rain." "The Fantasticks" tells an allegorical story of two neighboring fathers who trick their children, Luisa and Matt, into falling in love by pretending to feud. Premiering Off-Broadway in 1960, with the original cast including Jerry Orbach, the production ran a total of 42 years and 17,162 performances, making it the world's longest-running musical.Photo Credit: Joe Landry
