Roelf Visagie, a train driver, searches among the amangcwaba - the unnamed ones - for the final, unmarked resting place of a young woman and child he unintentionally killed.  As he wanders the graveyards of Port Elizabeth, he encounters a mysterious grave digger who guides him towards a tenuous and troubling understanding.
