Pantochino Productions, Connecticut's brand new ridiculously entertaining theater company, has launched the first of it's young audience productions, THE BOOKWORMS by Bert Bernardi.

THE BOOKWORMS follows four book-happy friends who love to read. Their enthusiasm speaks volumes! The brisk one-act production is a non-stop journey into four best-loved works of children's literature as told in the inimitable "Pantochino" style. The works of Rudyard Kipling, Johanna Spyri, Frances Hodgson Burnett and O. Henry are given a delightfully fun treatment by the multi-talented cast of four who create hundreds of characters and millions of laughs. The show features costumes by Jimmy Johansmeyer and sets by Delmar.

The touring show plays venues, schools, libraries, special events and festivals throughout the state  and will be seen at schools in New York, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Bert Bernardi is the show's award-winning author and director. His work (with composer Scott Simonelli) includes original musical adaptations of Robert D. San Souci's "Cinderella Skeleton," Mini Gray's "The Adventures of the Dish and the Spoon" and Elise Primavera's "Auntie Claus." With co-author Joe Landry ("It's A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play) he wrote "Lifeboat, Dahling!" which debuted last year at Firehouse 12 in New Haven. He is also the author of over a hundred original musicals for young audiences.

Pantochino Productions is under the direction of Mr. Bernardi and Mr. Johansmeyer. In addition to its young audience tours, the multi-faceted company will be producing original plays and musicals, offers a unique After-School drama program, licenses several of its shows to school and community groups and will soon be announcing a one-of-a-kind entertainment which is currently 'under wraps.'
