PLAYING MUSIC TOGETHER - CONVERSATIONS IN MUSICAL STYLES Set for Bijou Theatre, 11/1

By:

On Saturday, November 1st at 3pm, the guys behind the "Your Time to Shine!" talent competition at the Bijou Theatre are teaming up with the Fairfield School of Music to bring you "Playing Music Together - Conversations in Musical Styles". The workshop will take place at the Fairfield School of Music at 338 Commerce Dr in Fairfield. Students ages 6 and up are invited to attend. FREE admission for all FSM students and families. The event is open to the public; a $10 donation is suggested. Feel free to bring your instrument!

RSVP: by Thursday, 10/30 to (203) 690-1888 (space is limited!)

After all the practice and study on your instrument, learning to improvise and to play with others can be some of the most rewarding musical experiences. Matt Oestreicher and Joe Gray from Your Time To Shine! will be presenting an interactive workshop that focuses on these skills and more. The workshop will involve audience participation, so be prepared to play along with us if you would like.

We will take you on a journey through musical styles and show you what gives those styles their characteristic sound. We will also demonstrate how anyone can improvise. Come and share in the joy of music making with us!

"Your Time To Shine" is an exciting new variety show at downtown Bridgeport's Bijou Theater. Aspiring professional singers, musicians, and dancers compete for prizes with a cast of mentors and experienced professionals who have worked and performed with everyone from Stevie Wonder and Jon Bon Jovi to Kevin Hart and Will.iam.
