Lord Arthur Savile's CRIME to Make World Premiere 9/28 at Wilton Playshop

Lord Arthur Savile's CRIME will make its World Premiere on Saturday, September 28 at 2:00 pm and 7:30 pm at the Wilton Playshop. Directed by Kirby Ward, Lord Arthur Savile's Crime is a new musical comedy, written by Kirby and Beverly Ward, with music and lyrics by Beverly Ward. Proceeds from these performances will benefit the Wilton Playshop.

Lord Arthur Savile is blissfully engaged to the beautiful young Sybil Merton. But with only a fortnight remaining until the wedding, Arthur is told by a mysterious and persuasive palm reader that a dark fate awaits him - he will murder someone. Stunned, Arthur realizes a happy marriage is impossible, at least until the prophecy is fulfilled. It's obvious the only sensible course of action is to kill someone as soon as possible. Once the dread duty is discharged, he can get on with his life and marry Sybil with a clear conscience.

Adapted from a short story by Oscar Wilde, Lord Arthur Savile's Crime will be performed as a staged concert reading in its world premiere at The Playshop.

Wilton residents Kirby and Beverly Ward have managed to convince some of their Broadway friends to assist them in their new project. These performers will be joined by many who are familiar to audiences at The Playshop and in our community. The production is for all ages and is filled with endearing (if slightly befuddled) characters earnestly trying to make a happy ending for all.
