Kate Baldwin Leads WCP's I DO! I DO!, 8/10-8/28

A representative for The Westport Country Playhouse has confirmed that Broadway star Kate Baldwin will lead the theater's production of I DO! I DO! from August 10 through August 28.

Kate Baldwin most recently starred in the recent revival of FINIAN'S RAINBOW as Sharon McLonergan, alongside Cheyenne Jackson. Baldwin has been nominated for an Outer Critics Circle Award for Leading Actress in a Musical for her performance. Baldwin is currently in rehersals for the London World Premiere of the Hal Prince musical PARADISE FOUND with Mandy Patinkin and Nancy Opel.

I DO! I DO! features a book and lyrics by Tom Jones and music by Harvey Schmidt. Based on the Jan De Hartog play THE FOURPOSTER, the two-character story spans fifty years, from 1895 to 1945, as it focuses on the trials and tribulations, laughters and sorrows, and hopes and disappointments experienced by Agnes and Michael Snow throughout their marriage. The set consists solely of their bedroom, dominated by the large fourposter bed in the center of the room. The orginal production premirered on Broadway in 1966 with Mary Martin and Robert Preston. Carol Burnett and Rock Hudson starred in the National Tour. A TV version was broadcast in 1982 ith Lee Remick and Hal Linden. I DO! I DO! will be directed by Susan H. Schulman.
