Dar Willilams to perform at the Warner's Nancy Marine Studio Theatre 8/11
American singer/songwriter, Dar Williams will perform at the Warner's Nancy Marine Studio Theatre on Thursday, August 11 at 8pm.
Dar Williams has become a major force on the New England folk scene. Her style has been compared to that of Joni Mitchell and Joan Baez, but with a few acidic and at times hilarious twists. Her love of the folk scene stems from her admiration of its integrity toward honesty and real emotion, and a creative freedom not found in more popular music genres. Williams made her debut in 1993 with the independent Honesty Room to considerable critical acclaim for both her beautiful soprano voice and her lovely, intriguing songs. Along with her six studio albums, including The Green World (2000) and The Beauty of the Rain (2003),she's also released the onstage document Out There Live (2001) and the DVD Live at Bearsville Theater (2007).
At the core of Williams' work is a belief in the innate ability of people to make a better world, the product of countless observations in her travels and conversations with her fans. If anything, her optimism has intensified as she's crisscrossed America during the tough times of recent years. "My big secret," she says, with a twinkle in her eye, "is that we are gonna make it - but we'll be the last to know."
Tickets for this performance are $35, $55 and can be purchased by calling the Warner box office at 860-489-7180 or online at www.warnertheatre.org
