J.T. McDaniel to Co-Direct, Star in New Play COMING OUT at Abbey Theater; Full Cast Announced

Casting has completed for Creatures Plays Corporation's production of the new J.T. McDaniel play, COMING OUT. The nine-character dark comedy will play weekends, October 4 - 19, at the Abbey Theater of Dublin, in Dublin, Ohio.

The author will co-direct with veteran Columbus area director Jack Petersen, as well as taking the role of Oxford-educated philosophy Professor Bob Anderson, DPhil. Susan Gellman will portray his wife, English Literature Professor Susan Morton Anderson, PhD. Jim LeVally will take on the pivotal role of their eldest son, the virulently homophobic Reverend James Anderson, with Martha Kathryn Smith as his young, abused wife, Karen Dalwyn Anderson.

Shawn Castle will portray the younger son, George Anderson, CPA, whose coming out as gay at his parents' 40th anniversary get together precipitates much of the dramatic action. Will "Tu Tail" Smith will play Eric Simpson, George's fiance. Ashley Collins is featured as the Anderson's youngest child, Ellen Anderson Winston, with Josh Kaplonski playing her husband, Mark Winston.

Rounding out the cast is Amanda Elaine Dyke, who plays Bob Anderson's unexpectedly pregnant secretary, Carol Burgess.

COMING OUT runs Fridays and Saturdays, October 4 through 19, at the Abbey Theater of Dublin, 5600 Post Road, Dublin, OH 40317. Shows Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00 pm, and Saturday afternoons at 3:00 pm. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and students, and may be ordered online at www.ComingOutThePlay.com/tickets, or by calling 1(866) 55-TICKETS. A preview and final dress rehearsal will be presented on Thursday, October 3, at 6:30 pm. Tickets for the preview are $5.00, with all proceeds going to the Ohio Buckeye Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
