Local TV and radio legend Fritz the Nite Owl will host this year's "Fright Nite Friday" double feature at the CAPA Summer Movie Series. Patrons will have the chance to meet Fritz in the lobby prior to the show, and he'll also introduce both films-Bride of Frankenstein (1935) and Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948).

CAPA presents Fright Nite Friday with Fritz at the Ohio Theatre (39 E. State St.) on Friday, July 8. Doors open at 6:30pm. Screening begins at 7:30pM. Day-of-show tickets are $4 and go on sale one hour prior to show time at the Ohio Theatre kiosk. Senior citizen tickets are $3.50. All tickets are general admission and seating is on a first come, first served basis. This screening is made possible through the generous support of PNC.

About Fritz the Nite Owl
Fritz is best known as the host of "Nite Owl Theatre," a locally produced, late night movie showcase featuring classic horror and sci-fi films which aired on WBNS-TV from 1974-1991. His improvised, humorous commentaries over jazz music and unique visual introductions earned him five Emmy Awards during his 17 years hosting the show. His "Nite Owl Jazz: What's New in Jazz for the 21st Century" radio program also ran for 17 years.

Fritz's professional radio career began in 1959 after his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army Signal Corps. While in the Army, he was stationed at the Signal Corps Pictorial Center (formerly the Paramount Studios New York facility) where he narrated, acted in, and wrote numerous army promotional and training films. In doing so, he expanded his knowledge of visual techniques and effects, which he later used on his own TV show.

Fritz made a few appearances in the DC comic book titled "The Power of Shazam!" in which he helped Captain Marvel and Superman save the universe. Among his many freelance narrations and acting performances, he was also the voice of Green Lantern in the short-lived Warner Video Comics series.

Fritz resumed film-hosting in October 2010 with a showing of Night of the Living Dead at Grandview Theatre in Columbus. He currently hosts one movie per month.
