Shadowbox Presents 'Back to the Garden' 2/7

By:

This February 7th, Shadowbox will be re-opening their immensely popular live documentary musical about the famous Woodstock festival that took place for three unforgettable days in the summer of 1969.

The reason for the return is simply multiple requests from the fans. "We kept selling out the performances and had to turn people away," says Shadowbox CEO and director of the musical, Steve Guyer, "Granted, that's about the best problem you can have, but we still felt bad disappointing our patrons who were not able to make it out to see the show (or who wanted to see it again)."
Rehearsals for the show began with a full day of practice Sunday, January 24th and will continue on Sundays and Mondays until the morning of opening night. "We only have four and a half days to rehearse", muses Guyer, "But we milk those days for all they're worth. I'm honestly not sure how [the cast members] put up with the schedule but as long as they don't mutiny on me, I think we're golden."

There are no structural changes to be made and the cast has only been away from the production for about two months so rehearsals will consist primarily of review runs of the show. A significant portion of rehearsal time however will be used to teach staging, dance and vocal parts to the new cast members that will be joining the return production.

The reprise of Back to the Garden will include four new cast members replacing actors who are no longer in the company and, in one case, a performer who is expecting the birth of his first child right around the time the show opens. Choreographer Katy Psenicka is not worried though, "People here pick up on things pretty quickly," she says, "It's just part of the job description when you consider our constant turn around of shows. Teaching these new additions won't be difficult."

Back to the Garden will re-open at 7pm on Sunday, February 7th and play every Sunday at 2:30 and 7pm until a date yet to be determined. Performances are already filling up so make your reservations today by contacting the Shadowbox box office at 614-416-7625 (ROCK) or go online to www.shadowboxcabaret.com or www.woodstockmusical.com.
