International Thespian Festival Invites Eight Schools to Perform on Main Stage

Eight schools have been invited  to perform on the main stage at the nation's leading high school theatre festival. The invitations are based on productions that were adjudicated last fall; three more will be invited this spring. (Complete list of schools and shows to-date follows.)

Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati is pleased to present the regional premiere of Ripcord by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright David Lindsay-Abaire (Rabbit Hole, Shrek the Musical). This uproarious new comedy sets two spirited senior citizens against each other in a head-to-head battle of wits and wagers, leading to discoveries about friendship, forgiveness, and free falling. Playing January 19-February 16 and directed by D. Lynn Meyers. Production Sponsor is the Schueler Group.
Lin-Manuel Miranda's IN THE HEIGHTS Comes to Cincinnati Playhouse

Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda's musical IN THE HEIGHTS will delight Cincinnati audiences this winter at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park beginning Jan. 19, 2019. The Broadway hit, which won four Tony Awards including best musical and was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize, runs through Feb. 17, 2019. Official opening night is Jan. 24, 2019.

The National Board of Trustees of the Educational Theatre Foundation (ETF) has announced the appointment of Alex Birsh, Mark Drum, Carolina Garcia, and Megan Tulac to a term on the National Board from 2019 to 2021. The ETF National Board of Trustees is composed of prominent leaders across a diverse range of industries, including entertainment, finance, hospitality, law, education, and nonprofit theatre, all with a common passion for theatre education.

The Harry Potter Film Concert Series returns to Music Hall with Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban in Concert, the third film in the Harry Potter series. On January 3-5, 2020 the Cincinnati Pops will be performing this magical score live from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban while the entire film plays in high-definition on a 40- foot screen.

The Playhouse's family-friendly, Off the Hill series tours its second production of the season this January and February to community centers in Greater Cincinnati with CYRANO, a youth-oriented adaptation that's based on the 1897 classic play Cyrano de Bergerac. RENT $25 Rush Tickets Announced At The Aronoff Center

Broadway in Cincinnati announced today that a limited number of seats in the front sides of the orchestra section will be available for $25 for every performance of RENT, the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning musical.  The $25 tickets are available for in-person purchases at the Aronoff Center Box Office, located at 650 Walnut St., on the day of each performance only, two hours prior to the show.  The $25 tickets are limited to two tickets per person, cash only.  Line can begin forming 2 ½ hours prior to the show.
