The Drowsy Chaperone Plays The Aronoff Center 5/6-14

Feeling a little blue? Seeking a cure for your "non-specific sadness"?
Cincinnati Music Theatre (CMT) has just what the doctor ordered. Join us May 6-14, 2011 at the Aronoff Center's Jarson-Kaplan Theater for our rousing production of The Drowsy Chaperone. This affectionate valentine to musical theatre focuses on Man in Chair, a mousy Broadway fanatic and our narrator, seeking a cure for his "non-specific sadness" by listening to a recording of his favorite 1928 musical comedy, The Drowsy Chaperone. As he listens to this rare recording, his imagination takes flight and the fictional musical magically comes to life in his apartment, complete with impressive sets, glittering costumes, painted backdrops, and a colorful cast of characters.Tickets are on sale now at www.CincinnatiArts.ORG, (513) 621-ARTS [2787], and the Aronoff Center Ticket Office. The Drowsy Chaperone, the show-within-the-show, or better yet "a musical-within-a-comedy," tells the story of an impending wedding, those characters who would seek to stop it, and those characters who become accidentally involved in the details. This hilarious homage to Jazz Age musicals incorporates mistaken identity, dream sequences, monkeys, spit takes and, of course, the Drowsy Chaperone herself.Friday, May 6 - 8:00 pm
