The Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park is hosting a staged reading of Theresa Rebeck's new play, FOOL, in conjunction with the Cincy in NYC performing arts showcase in New York City May 6 through 12.

Playwright and Pulitzer Prize nominee Theresa Rebeck, a Cincinnati native, has also written and produced for television and was the creator/executive producer of the NBC drama Smash. Rebeck's comedy Dead Accounts received its world premiere at the Playhouse and opened on Broadway in 2012. Rebeck will co-host the event with Playhouse Artistic Director Blake Robison.

FOOL, a dramatical, comical, farcical, tragical play about power, love, laughter and death, features two kings who place a wager on their fools. It's a jester competition in which only the funniest fool gets to keep his head. FOOL will feature a cast of Playhouse "all-star" actors who have appeared in our productions in the past decade.

The weeklong Cincy in NYC showcase boasts performances and events highlighting such vibrant Cincinnati arts organizations as the Cincinnati Ballet, Cincinnati May Festival Chorus, Cincinnati Opera, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Taft Museum of Art and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Visit www.cincyinnyc.com for a complete schedule.

The reading is set for Pearl Studios, 519 Eighth Avenue (between 35th and 36th streets), 12th Floor, Studio D, New York, NY 10018 on Friday, May 9 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are free but extremely limited and must be reserved by calling the Cincinnati Playhouse Box Office at 513-421-3888.
