By:

The Uptown Underground is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Indianapolis-based cabaret troupe PUR | The Company. Performing in Indianapolis for the past 4 years, PUR | The Company will appear at the Uptown Underground, 4707 N. Broadway, the first Saturday of the month. The Uptown Underground is set to open in Fall 2014.

PUR | The Company is inspired by burlesque and cabaret styles, however the company is best known for its serious choreography with Vegas polish, Broadway theatrics and Los Angeles entertainment. PUR | The Company has appeared at Bu Da Lounge and Red Room in Indianapolis.

"Chicago is a great fit for our company," said PUR| The Company founder Jenee Michelle. "We are doing a different kind of show than the Chicago market is currently seeing. We adore the amazing performances local troupes bring to the stage and we know that if we are going to be successful we will need to bring something truly unique to support the amazing performance scene there. "

Located below street level, the Uptown Underground is being created by The Kiss Kiss Cabaretproducers Jenn A. Kincaid and Chris O. Biddle. It will hosts a 150-seat main stage and a full service bar. The Uptown Underground will be the new home of The Kiss Kiss Cabaret as well as other area burlesque companies and retro entertainment including cabaret, music, stand-up and vaudeville variety in an immersive jazz-age themed theater space.

"Things are moving forward with the grand opening of the Uptown Underground," Biddle said. "There is electricity in the air that the cabaret community can feel and we're excited to be a part of that energy."

The Kiss Kiss Cabaret was voted best burlesque troupe in the Chicago Reader's 2013 Best of Chicago poll and is Chicago's longest running weekly burlesque/comedy performance presenting a crowd-pleasing, modern spin on the classic vaudeville show since 2011. The Kiss Kiss Cabaret features burlesque strip teases, bawdy comedy and inventive variety performers including jugglers, musicians and magicians. Every performance features a rotating cast of dancers and comedians and is different each week.

About The Kiss Kiss Cabaret

KKC is the brainchild of producers Chris O. Biddle and Jenn A. Kincaid. In 2009, they created a five-week run for a Halloween-themed show called "Peek-A-Boo". The positive audience reaction inspired Biddle and Kincaid to create the open-run show which premiered in February, 2011.
