Theo Ubique Presents SWEET AND HOT, Closes 8/8

Theo Ubique's next show, Sweet and Hot: The Songs of Harold Arlen, is a musical revue of some of the 20th century's most popular tunes. It is presented in association with Michael James with previews at 8 p.m., June 18-19, opening night at 7 p.m., June 20 and running at 8 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays and 7 p.m., Sundays through August 8 at the No Exit Cafe in Rogers Park. Dinner is available one hour prior to curtain with cast members as servers. Doors open at 6:45 pm, Fridays and Saturdays and 5:45 pm, Sundays.

The three women and three men comprising the musical revue are award-winning singers and actors, five of them in previous Theo Ubique productions. Fred Anzevino is Director, hot off his just-closed production of Chess. Music Director is Steve Carson, a well known pianist in Chicago, and the choreographer is David Heimann, who directed last fall's production of Man of La Mancha.
Meet the cast of Sweet and Hot

Sarah Hayes: You remember her as Aldonza in last fall's production of Man of La Mancha, for which she received a 2010 Jeff Awards Non-Equity nomination for Principal Actress-Musical. She was also ensemble and dance captain in last season's Evita, which received the 2009 Jeff Awards Non-Equity for Best Production-Musical.

Stephanie Herman: Her role as Sventlana in Chess received raves by critics and her duet of one of the show's most famous songs, I Know Him So Well, is unforgettable. She has been on Chicago stages for 10 years and studied and performed at The Second City.

Bethany Thomas: Her portrayal of Belle Barth in Belle Barth: If I Embarrass You, Tell Your Friends won Bethany a 2009 Jeff Awards Non-Equity nomination for Principal Actress-Musical. She appeared as Kost in Theo Ubique's 2008 award-winning production of Cabaret and received an After Dark Award for her role in Porchlight's Nine.

Eric Lindahl: He was last seen at the No Exit Cafe in Theo Ubique's revue of Side by Side with Sondheim, another Jeff Awards Non-Equity winner in 2008. A company member with Circle Theatre in Forest Park, he received both Jeff Awards Non-Equity and After Dark Award for his role as Buddy in BoHo's Side Show in 2008.

Eric Martin: He's a familiar face to Theo Ubique audiences, appearing as Cliff in Cabaret and Man 2 in Jacque Brel's Lonesome Losers of the Night. Both productions were recipients of several Jeff Awards Non-Equity nominations and awards.

Kristofer Simmons: He came into the Chicago cabaret scene in 2004 with his peformance in Explicit Lyrics. This led to his popular one-man show I Ain't Got No Shame. Hailing from the Boston Conservatory and American Academy of Dramatic Arrts, this is Kristofer's first appearance in a Theo Ubique show.

Tickets are $25 for all performances June 20-August 8, which run at 8 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays and 7 p.m., Sundays. Preview tickets are $15 for 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday, June 18-19.

Show/dinner packages for Sweet and Hot

Dinner is optional when you attend a Theo Ubique production, and you can order a show/dinner package through the ticket service for $45, not including tips, taxes and beverages. If you purchase tickets, then decide later you would like dinner, you can order "Dinner Only" through the ticket service.

Dinner starts one hour before curtain. For Fridays and Saturdays, doors open at 6:45 pm, and for Sundays, doors open at 5:45 pm.

Parking and transportation in Rogers Park

Road construction is underway on Morse and Glenwood in Rogers Park, where we're located at 6970 N. Glenwood. While the streetscaping taking place will be wonderful in the future, it's causing transportation and parking issues for our patrons now. We are told that the construction on Glenwood in front of the No Exit Cafe may be completed by the time Sweet and Hot opens.

Watch the web site and future e-news announcements for updates. Right now, our plans are to continue with free parking at Morse and Ravenswood with free rides on the Lifeline shuttle to the No Exit Cafe, just a half block from Morse on Glenwood.
