The Theatre School at DePaul Presents VIGILS, Now thru 11/16

The Theatre School at DePaul University is pleased to present Vigils by Noah Haidle in the Sondra and Denis Healy Theatre, located in The Theatre School building at Racine and Fullerton. The production is directed by Andrew Peters, MFA Directing candidate, Class of 2016. Opening Night is tonight, November 7, and the production will run through Sunday November 16, 2014. Performances are Wednesdays through Saturdays at 7:30 PM and Sundays at 2 PM. Previews are on November 5 and 6, at 7:30 PM.

About the play: It has been two years since a Widow's husband -- a fireman -- died in a heroic act, but she is not ready to move on. She captures her husband's Soul in a box, while his Body wanders around their home, replaying memories from their lives together and giving occasional hugs. When a Wooer appears on the scene, the Widow finds herself faced with the choice and consequences of letting go.

At once heartbreaking and hilarious, Vigils is a generous and bittersweet play about the absurdities of loss, change, and love. Directed by Andrew Peters, MFA Class of 2016.

The cast features Christian Cook (Soul), Audrey Gladson (Widow), Nathan Simpson (Body), and Francesco Stornaiuolo (Wooer).

The production staff includes Andrew Peters (Director), Greg Pinsoneault (Scenic Designer), Nikki Foster (Costume Designer), Toria Gibson (Lighting Designer), Spencer Batho (Sound Designer), Johanna Orr (Dramaturg), and Julia Bates (Stage Manager).

The Theatre School at DePaul University is located at 2350 N Racine Ave (at Fullerton). The school is easily accessible via the Fullerton CTA Station and the Fullerton (74) bus. Andrew Peters (Director, Class of 2016) is in his second year of the MFA Directing program at The Theatre School at DePaul University. He is the former Founding Artistic Director of Glass Mind Theatre in Baltimore, Maryland and trained with the KIBISM movement ensemble under Naoko Maeshiba. His Theatre School directing credits include Gruesome Playround Injuries, and assistant directing A Free Man of Color. Other directing credits include The Resistable Rise of Arturo Ui by Bertolt Brecht, Adapting Cinderella devised by Glass Mind Theatre, Antarctica by Carolyn Raship, and Bug by Tracy Letts. Andrew was the Producing Director for three of Glass Mind's BRAINSTORM short play festivals and has also directed for the Baltimore One Minute Play Festival and Baltimore Playwrights Festival. He holds a dual degree in Theatre Arts and marketing from Towson University.
