The State Theatre of Chicago opens their 2011-2012 season with The World Over, directed by Tim Speicher. Opening night is Wednesday, October 19 at 8:00 p.m. at ARCC Ballet, 2200 N. Elston. Tickets and information are available at www.statetheatrechicago.com.

Adam, a castaway, is discovered on an island with no memory except for a familiar yet mysterious ring. He soon learns that he may be the heir to the magnificent kingdom of Gildaroy....if he could only find it first. Follow him as he travels the world searching for his lost kingdom: through oceans, deserts, mountains, and more.

Director Tim Speicher states, "This fantastic play is a massive challenge for us as we're taking a huge story, cramming it into a tiny space and performing it on a bare set. In spite of these limitations, we intend to make it spectacularly beautiful in the process by employing every skill of our phenomenally talented cast (one actor plays five instruments) to create a rich, fully realized exploration. We've got puppetry, choreography, and a ton of live music to transport the audience to 35 different locations. It's a deliciously neurotic and sensorially explosive experience."

Keith Bunin (playwright) is a New York based playwright and screen writer. His other plays include TTHE BUSY WORLD IS HUSHED, THE CREDEAUX CANVAS, VERA LAUGHED, THE PRINCIPALITY OF SORROWS, THE KING OF CLOCKS, and A JOKE.

Tim Speicher (Director) holds a B.A. in Theatre and Drama from Indiana University. He has directed A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, THE ISLAND (both at Indiana University), IMMIGRANT STORIES (Chicago Children's Theatre at Jane Addams Hull House), MOBY DICK...REHEARSED, and AjaxAntigone (The State Theatre), was Company Manager and appeared as Alonso in THE AFRICAN TEMPEST PROJECT (Hexagon Theatre, KwaZulu Natal, South Africa), and assistant directed THE RED KITE PROJECT (Chicago Children's Theatre). He has written SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY, BROWBAR, THIRTY-EIGHT, HEAT IN THE KITCHEN, and AJAXANTIGONE. Last spring Tim directed THE VOODOO CHALK CIRCLE. Tim had internships with Indiana Repertory Theatre and Goodman Theatre, a fellowship with American Theatre Company, and is currently employed as the Marketing Manager for Victory Gardens Theatre.

The cast of THE WORLD OVER features: Daniel Gilbert (Adam), Genevieve Lallyknuth (Puppeteer), and Jason Nelson (Musician/Understudy). The ensemble includes: Austin Campion, Jason Nelson, Emily Radke, Adam Shalzi, Alee Spadoni, Dan Toot and Mark Viafranco.

The World Over staff includes: Ellenkate Finley (Assistant Director), Mike Smith (Lighting Designer), Yonit Olshan (Costume Designer), Elizabeth Breit (Props Designer), Taylor Bibat (Puppet Designer), Alexis Randolph and Rayme Silverberg (Puppet Assistants), and Kris Lantzy, Casey Searles and Rachel Singer (Projection Artists).
