The New Colony's KIN FOLK to Premiere at The Den Theatre

By:

The New Colony will continue its 2016 Season with the world premiere of the fantastical family drama KIN FOLK, by William Glick, directed by Co-Artistic Director Evan Linder, playing July 8 - August 14, 2016 at its resident home, The Den Theatre's Upstairs Main Stage, 1333 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood. Tickets for KIN FOLK are currently available at www.thenewcolony.org. The press opening is Tuesday, July 12 at 7:30 pm.

KIN FOLK will feature Chris Fowler, Andrew Hobgood, Alexia Jasmene, Steve Love, Annie Prichard, Stephanie Shum and Elise Spoerlein.

As they wait to sell their suburban house, Lucy's family imagines a vibrant, new life in Chicago. However, Lucy has a different vision for her future. She wants to self-actualize and live as her true self: a powerful dragon named Kreeka. When her family discovers this secret, Lucy must choose between them and a new community known as Otherkin, a group of people who identify as magical, non-human creatures. As Lucy embraces Kreeka, she meets a young man claiming to be an elf, a giant gnome named Blubberwort and a werewolf from Montana, who show her how to live a life driven by faith and a love of the fantastic.

The production team for KIN FOLK includes: John Wilson (scenic design), Kate Kamphausen (costume design), Heather Sparling (lighting design), Morgan Lake (sound design), Paul Deziel (projections design), Garth Moritz (production manager), Bobby Huggins (technical director), Elyse Dolan (assistant director), Grace McLeod (script supervisor) and Sarah Collonge (stage manager).
