By:

Steppenwolf Theatre Company is now accepting applications for Garage Rep 2014, which presents the work of three of Chicago's most innovative storefront theater companies in rotating repertory under Steppenwolf's banner. Chicago theater companies with a track record of production excellence and inventive approaches to attracting millennial audiences are encouraged to apply. The fifth annual Garage Rep is presented in Steppenwolf's Garage Theatre, March - April 2014 (specific dates to be announced at a later date). For applications and more information about Garage Rep 2014, visit steppenwolf.org/apply4grep. Applications are due by5pm on May 31, 2013.

Companies selected for Garage Rep 2014 are provided with mentorship in artistic producing, dramaturgy, marketing and media relations, production, strategic and financial management, and fundraising. With this program, Steppenwolf aims to learn about what excites the next generation; to introduce Steppenwolf audiences to the selected companies' work and their audiences to ours; and above all, to contribute to the ongoing vibrancy of Chicago's theater ecology.

The Steppenwolf Garage is dedicated to new plays, emerging artists and millennial-generation audiences for the American theater. It offers artists the opportunity to present their work with the scale, space and resources it merits. For audiences, it provides opportunities to engage in multigenerational conversation about the new, provocative work emerging from Chicago's diverse and vibrant theater scene.
