Rudy Hogenmiller to Star in CABARET, Aug 2013; Light Opera Works Announces 2013 Season!

Light Opera Works artistic director Rudy Hogenmiller will star as the Master of Ceremonies in CABARET, August 10-25, at Cahn Auditorium in Evanston. It will mark Hogenmiller's first stage appearance anywhere since assuming the artistic director title in 2005.

As a dancer, Hogenmiller toured nationally and internationally with EVITA, A CHORUS LINE and THE FANTASTICKS. He has been an actor, director and choreographer at Candlelight Dinner Playhouse, Drury Lane Oakbrook, Marriott Theatre, Theatre at the Center, Northlight Theatre and other companies, receiving 17 nominations and six Joseph Jefferson Awards.

Stacey Flaster will direct and choreograph CABARET. Flaster previously directed and choreographed CAROUSEL and THE SECRET GARDEN at Light Opera Works.

The 2013 Light Opera Works season begins with Gilbert and Sullivan's H.M.S. PINAFORE June 8-16, followed by Kander and Ebb's CABARET August 10-25, GERSHWIN'S GREATEST HITS October 4-13, and Irving Berlin's ANNIE GET YOUR GUN December 21-31.

The October Gershwin concert will be performed at Nichols Concert Hall (Music Institute of Chicago) in Evanston. All other productions are at the company's home venue, Cahn Auditorium in Evanston.

Chicago veteran James Harms (Don Quixote in MAN OF LA MANCHA -- one of Chicago's "10 Best Theater Performances of 2012" by the Chicago Tribune, and Fagin in OLIVER!) returns to Light Opera Works as Sir Joseph Porter in this classic Gilbert and Sullivan work, with full orchestra. Rudy Hogenmiller directs and choreographs. The score includes: "We Sail the Ocean Blue," "When I Was a Lad," "I Am the Captain of the Pinafore" and many others.

A full orchestra accompanies such songs as "There's No Business Like Show Business," "Doin' What Comes Natur'lly," "I Got Lost in His Arms," "The Girl That I Marry" and "Anything You Can Do."
