Promethean Theatre Ensemble brings audiences and artists together for a collaborative storytelling experience that engages the imagination and produces plays rooted in creativity, language and ideas.

Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs Theater's Incubator Program is designed to support the creation of new work by emerging Chicago theater companies. Through the month of August, Promethean Theatre will develop several projects to showcase at this event, including:

· Notable for being the first full-length detective novel, The Moonstone is a Victorian masterpiece by British writer Wilkie Collins. This tale of mystery and adventure comes to life in a new stage adaptation by Brian Pastor.
· Has Shakespeare become inaccessible to the masses he once wrote for? Using several theatre styles, Promethean will be exploring ways to make Shakespeare's language as accessible as possible in performance without changing a single line.
· Ed Rutherford will be workshopping two scripts: a new stage adaptation of the short stories of author John Collier, as well as his own delightfully twisted take on The Wizard of Oz, infused with HP Lovecraft.

MONDAY, AUGUST 31, at 7:30 p.m.
