Porchlight Music Theatre, American Musicals. Chicago Style, announces the return of their unique fundraiser, By Popular Demand, Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m. in The Thrust Theatre at Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont Ave. The event, first held in fall 2010, pitches musical theater stars against each other in a musical battle royal with a new twist this round - teams. Tickets are $35 in advance or $40 at the door. The event also includes a 50/50 raffle, cash bar and hors d'oeuvres. Tickets are available online at porchlightmusictheatre.org or by calling Porchlight at 773.325.9884.
By Popular Demand begins with "Act 1," three teams of some of the best music theatre talent Chicago has to offer, including multiple Porchlight Music Theatre alums, artistic associates and special guests, going head to head in a sing-off. The teams choose songs randomly as well as have one song they have previously rehearsed as a team. During "Intermission," audience members vote with their dollars for their favorite team to see who will appear in "Act II." The team who raises the most money moves on to "Act II." The audience favorites, former teammates, now are competitors as they perform against each other to see who will be the ultimate victor!

Competitors include Jeremy Rill (Porchlight's Candide, Writer's Theatre She Loves Me), Christin Boulette (Porchlight's Candide, Wonderful Life, King and I), Sarah Hayes (Porchlight's Ragtime, Sweeney Todd, Wonderful Life, Sunday in the Park, Candide), Jennifer Tjepkema, Lina Kernan (Porchlight's Ragtime, Company, Goodman's Ain't Misbehavin'), Kate Garassino (Jeff Nominee-Porchlight's King and I), Elizabeth Lanza (Jeff Nominee-Porchlight's Meet John Doe) and many more.
