Photo Flash: LUCKY A Pop, Feminist Musical Comes to Second City Training Center
A brand new, original musical is opening this May at Donny's Skybox theater at Second City. Inspired by the American Girl book, The Care and Keeping of You, "Lucky: A Musical" is a hilarious, pop anthem-filled dive into young adulthood and growing up. Produced by an all female team, Lucky: A Musical also proudly features a four-piece, all woman band and 14 person cast!
This is a story about a girl named Lucky. Okay, but really, it's a story about a unique young woman navigating her first day of college orientation. Hailing from a sheltered life in a small town, Lucky only has one book to guide her: The Care and Keeping of You. Meeting new friends and encountering new beliefs throughout her first day, Lucky is forced to face the reality that not every obstacle she faces will be covered by her beloved book and that maybe, her book is not as great as she once thought.
"Lucky: A Musical" explores the themes of identity and friendship, the different and often dissonant messaging young people receive about growing up, and how sharply our worldview can change in a short amount of time. It's also hilarious!
"Lucky: A Musical" runs Saturdays May 12, 19 and 26 at 10:30 pm in Donny's Skybox Theater at The Second City Training Center.
Ticket are available for $13 for general audience members, $11 for students, and $7 for Second City Training Center Students. Tickets can be purchased online, by phone and in person via the Second City Training Center Box Office. This show is for adult audiences as it does explore some mature themes.
