PTAP Presents The International Voices Project; Readings Slated for May & June
Beginning in May, Premiere Theatre & Performance (PTAP) will present The International Voices Project (IVP), a series of concert readings by playwrights of international origins. These one-night events, produced in collaboration with the Consulate Generals of Spain, France, Japan, Canada, and India will include a performance, a post performance dialogue with the cast and audience, and a reception featuring regional cuisine.
Curated by Patrizia Acerra and Brian LaDuca, the International Voices Project is the first event of its kind in the City of Chicago. "A festival of this kind is unprecedented in Chicago, but for us, it is inspired by the great work of Performing Arts Chicago and the InterNational Theatre Festival, as well as the many theatre companies in Chicago that regularly produce international work," said Acerra.
"The mission of Premiere is to support the development and production of new work, and it is our hope that this initiative will showcase the vibrant work of these artists, and, ideally, help them secure a production here in Chicago," adds LaDuca.
Directors include Steve Scott and Henry Godinez of the Goodman Theatre, Brian LaDuca of the University of Chicago , Lavina Jadhwani of Rasaka Theatre Company, and Max Truax of Trap Door Theatre. I

Thursday, June 10, 2010 at 7:30PM - Moonlight Modesty, by Japanese playwright Ryo Iwamatsu. Directed by Steve Scott. Translated by Haruna Tsuchiya. This event will take place at the Japanese Consulate, 737 N. Michigan Ave. Suite 1000 in Chicago.
Thursday, June 17, 2010 at 7:30 PM - Night, by Canadian playwright Christopher Morris. Directed by Brian LaDuca. This event will take place at Alliance Française de Chicago, 810 North Dearborn Street in Chicago
Saturday June 26th, 2010 at 3:00PM - Sahkutala, by Indian playwright Kalidasa. Directed by Lavina Jadhwani. Translated by P. Lal.
