" Chicago comedians are some of the hardest working people in the world, and Otherworld Theatre and I are ready to reward and support them. There are no upfront fees or rent for comedy acts, meaning artists have a chance to turn profits, pay casts, and invest in their careers. In exchange, I am going to be asking for shows to be highly polished by opening night. My goal is for every comedy show that goes up at Otherworld to be a beloved hit that audiences beg us to bring back again and again ," said Katie Ruppert , Otherworld Theatre founding artistic director.
L ocated at 3914 N Clark Street, Chicago, IL 60613, Otherworld is the world's first and only venue dedicated to the performance of Science Fiction and Fantasy genre. All mainstage tickets are pay-what-you-can, allowing people of any and all means to experience live performance. Otherworld uses its venue to create a unique community hub for fans of Science Fiction and Fantasy genres that celebrates geek culture unlike anywhere else in the world. Otherworld describes their target audience as anyone who enjoys live performance, Science Fiction and Fantasy literature, film, and television, and fandoms that fall within "popular geek culture."
Otherworld Theatre Company, a non-profit arts organization, was founded in June 2012 with the mission to bring a theatrical experience to the science fiction and fantasy genre.
